Countdown to the 2019 Client Showcase: #2.
SBDC: Washington SBDC, Spokane (wsbdc.org)
SBDC Advisor: Vern Jenkins and Duane Fladland.
FLEXHIBIT is an exhibit manufacturing company that provides innovative, engaging, and high-quality STEM exhibits to Science Centers and Children’s Museums. With help from the Washington SBDC, FLEXHIBIT has successfully expanded its market internationally.
The company’s exhibits work with a portable, modular wall system called FlexWall, which allows customers to switch out inspiring STEM exhibits in a highly affordable manner, with quick turnaround times. Mounting on modular wall systems means you can rotate FLEXHIBIT exhibits – they can be swapped out in hours for new exhibits that can be arranged in a variety of patterns, which helps the science center or children’s museum stay relevant to its visitors.
FLEXHIBIT’s team includes fabricators, marketing consultants, scientists, and educators. With these skills and resources, FLEXHIBIT has the flexibility to custom-design its products to meet the educational and financial needs of its clients.
FLEXHIBIT’s engineers have re-designed four of its classic Science Center STEM Exhibits into FLEXCARTS, for Science, STEM, CTE and classroom use. FLEXCART is a division of FLEXHIBIT that specifically serves K-12 education. FLEXCART allows FLEXHIBIT to roll a STEM exhibit right into the classroom, for more hands-on learning than ever before. In addition, the exhibits come with lesson plans, written to help teachers meet the Next Generation Science Standards.
The FLEXCARTS are also integrated into Special Needs classrooms, Libraries, Summer STEM programs, STEM Nights, and organizations that support STEM opportunities in K-12. FLEXCART’s goal is to enhance K-12 STEM education by providing a hands-on STEM tool that has been specifically developed to satisfy curricular and professional development requirements for school districts of all demographics. FLEXCART has a lease program in place to remove the financial barriers of high-quality exhibit technology use, therefore creating equity in STEM education.
“The SBDC, beginning with Vern Jenkins, has been instrumental in our business moving into export. We were green and just dabbling in the idea of marketing and shipping outside of the United States when Vern called. He gave us the confidence that we needed to move forward. His experienced guidance kept us from making first-timer mistakes and assisted the company in applying for a small grant to market ourselves internationally. Their assistance has always been spot on.” — Coleen Quisenberry, General Manager, FLEXHIBIT
The America’s SBDC Client Showcase and Reception will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, in the Rayburn House Office Building Cafeteria.
