Countdown to the 2020 Client Showcase: #1

SBDC: South-West Texas Border SBDC Network
SBDC Advisor: Rex Steele

Woom designs high-quality, lightweight bikes for children of all ages. Built with meticulous attention to detail, our bikes are tailor-made for a child’s anatomy and needs. Models range in size from balance bikes designed for the smallest of riders to pedal bikes for young teens. Woom bikes, often half the weight of kids bikes found at traditional retail stores, make riding easy to learn and easy to enjoy. Woom’s aim is to inspire as many children as possible to love riding their bikes.

Family owned and operated, woom was founded in Vienna, Austria, with the mission to create the ideal kids bike. Woom USA began operating at our headquarters in Austin, Texas, in 2014, to bring the same unparalleled European design and love of riding to families across North America. In 2019, woom USA was named to the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing companies in the U.S., ranked No. 259 overall and 20th in Texas. Woom ships directly to customers, and assembly is quick and simple.

“I have been working with the SBDC since day one in 2014. The experience and the expertise of the SBDC has been invaluable to woom. The entire team has always been available when I needed help and support. The guidance and consultations allowed me to grow my business quickly and efficiently. The consultations and guidance throughout the years has been a key to woom’s success in the US market.

“My advisor, Rex Steele, worked with me hand in hand and guided me along the way, introducing me to new resources and training courses, and provided access to growth capital. The SBDC has made a significant impact. With SBDC help we were able to grow our employee base from one in 2014 to 35 in 2019, and grow our revenues 1,666% in three years.” — Mathias Ihlenfeld, CEO/Owner
