Today is the start of National Small Business Week, an annual occasion created by the President and brought to life by the Small Business Administration. This year, Google is teaming up with communities across the country to celebrate and help local businesses succeed.

In honor of National Small Business Week, we’re sharing five lessons that small businesses can use to achieve success online:

1. Get Found Online

When customers search for you on Google Search or Maps, they rely on accurate business listing information such as your store hours, location, and website. In less than 10 minutes, you can get set up with a free Google listing to ensure your business information is available and up to date.

2. Build a Free Website

Your business website is your front door to the web. Google is offering resources so you can create a custom domain name and develop a simple website for your business – all at no charge for the first year.  Just choose a design and customize it for your business.

3. Grow Your Business Online

There are many digital tools available for small businesses to run their companies more effectively. This guide shows you how to use Google tools such as Search Console, Google Analytics, and Google Apps for Work in order to grow your business online.

4. Promote Your Business

Search advertising drives customers for many small businesses. Solutions like AdWords Express offer a simple way to attract more customers to your website, Google My Business listing, or phone number based on the words they search for on Google. With these tips, you can see how AdWords Express works and get tips for creating effective ads.

5. Get a custom email address

A custom, branded email address (like yourname@yourbiz.com) can help establish a professional presence for your business on the web. Find out how to set up a custom email address with the professional version of Gmail for Work.

Learn more about these topics during National Small Business Week by joining a free workshop in your community or viewing an online lesson. We hope you’ll join us and spread the word to invite other small business owners who can use some help.

We’re #AllForSmallBiz this Small Business Week and hope you are too.
