America’s #SBDC Showcases Clients in the Nation’s Capital

America’s Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), SBDC leaders, advisors, clients, partners and stakeholders gathered on Capitol Hill for the sixth annual Client Showcase and Reception on Tuesday, February 11th. Representative Steve Chabot of Ohio, Ranking Member of the Committee on Small Business, addressed the reception guests. Several of his colleagues also visited the reception, in which America’s SBDC Network showcased 10 SBDC clients from across the country.

The SBDC clients are:

• Inergy Solar, Idaho SBDC Network
• Sun Buckets, Illinois SBDC Network
• Hotel Tango Distillery, Indiana SBDC Network
• EMP Shield, Kansas SBDC Network
• Oceans 97, Louisiana SBDC Network
• Atlas Space Operations Inc., Michigan SBDC Network
• Geopipe, New York SBDC Network

“SBDCs are not magical places where entrepreneurs or small businesses go for a wave of a magic wand. SBDCs are places to get questions answered, and get training and advising from experienced, trusted small business experts. These SBDC Advisors can help make what seems impossible, their clients’ “big idea,” into something that will produce results and thrive — a small business,” said Charles “Tee” Rowe, America’s SBDC President & CEO.

The 62 state and regional Small Business Development Center networks provide free one-on-one consulting to small businesses at nearly 1,000 locations. Job growth for SBDC clients is nearly 17.7%, compared to the national average of 1.5%. Not only do SBDCs help generate new jobs, 93% of SBDC clients recommend SBDCs and rate SBDC services 4.44 out of 5 stars.

According to the most recent annual data provided by the Small Business Administration (SBA), every Federal dollar spent on the SBDC network helped small businesses access $45.47 in new capital. In 2018, SBDC clients started a new business every 32 minutes, created a new job every 5.3 minutes, and generated $100,000 in new sales every 8 minutes. America’s SBDCs are the nation’s proven, cost effective and accredited infrastructure focused on small businesses.

America’s SBDC will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary throughout 2020. For updates on more “Think BIG. Start Small” activities, visit www.AmericasSBDC.org now.
