Last month I covered the basics of my strategic online marketing program. The next step in building your online presence is to create your email marketing series.
4 Functions of a Email Marketing system
   Integrate: Tie into your web site
   Educate: Train your list
   Automate: Use Technology to do your work
   Populate: Grow your list
The technology today makes it incredibly easy to integrate an email marketing system directly into your website. If you have ever been to website that has a form to fill out that includes your name, email address and phone number then you know what I am talking about. In the past this was all handled with a database on the backend and then you had to extract the email addresses out of the database and add them to your email system. Now you have the ability to take the email address and have it go directly into a mailing list that allows you to send them emails without worrying about it going to the Junk mail folder.
Send valuable information that informs them about mistakes to avoid, pitfalls to avoid common missteps and essentially any information that will help them make decision in their business. It’s well known in the marketing world that people respond to relief of pain over increase in pleasure in a ratio of 3 to 1. Hopefully this explains why the message in most advertising you see is today is focused on relieving a pain point. A better way to state the pain point is that it solves a problem. Solving problems is the real value proposition in this approach. Identify major problems of your target market and then provide a solution.
Once you have your email system added to your web site and integrated you need to create a series of emails that will be sent at periodic intervals to the people who opt in on your website. The auto responder series should provide them with relevant information that will help them make a decision about a problem that you know how to solve. Notice that I have not mentioned selling at all. If you are giving them the information they need to make the decision you don’t need to sell, they make up their own mind and decide to buy.
Mailing to your list is a great way to generate more leads. Each time you send them a training article or information relative to the decision they ned to make you can ask them to share it with others.
Email Marketing is really very simple and you don’t need to be intimidated by the technology.
